Located at the southern gateway of Red river delta, over 90 km south of Hanoi, Ninh Binh borders to the central region by impressive mountain range of Tam Diep. It has a population of 915,000 people and a natural area of about 1,420 km2 with three typical types of landscapes of wetlands, coastal delta, hills and mountains.
Ninh Binh is endowed with a great number of well-known beauty spots such as Tam Coc – Bich Dong (as dry Ha Long Bay), Cuc Phuong national park, Trang An grottoes and Van Long nature reserves, etc. Ninh Binh also has over 1,000 historical and cultural relics, 80 of which were granted as national heritages.
